The Attorney General’s Office has initiated a criminal investigation into allegations of unauthorized production of minted gold bars totaling 109 tons over a span of more than a decade at state-owned gold miner Aneka Tambang (Antam).
Six former general managers of Antam, responsible for precious metal purification and management from 2010 to 2022, have been identified as suspects in the case.
According to AGO spokesman Harli Siregar, prosecutors recently interrogated a former Antam commissioner, identified by the initials RAS, who served from April 2014 to March 2019.
The suspects, identified by their initials TK, HN, DM, AHA, MA, and ID, allegedly collaborated to produce minted gold bars bearing the Antam logo illegally for at least 12 years, resulting in a total of 109 tons of gold bars.
During the investigation, prosecutors have seized 7.7 kilograms of fine gold bars from the suspects and have questioned nearly 100 witnesses, the spokesman added.
