In a strong endorsement of regulatory reform for the digital asset sector, former U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday emphasized the need for greater clarity and structure in cryptocurrency oversight. Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of Paul Atkins as the new Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Trump underscored the urgency of establishing firm regulatory guidelines.
“He’s the perfect man to lead this agency at a time when crypto innovators are urgently in need of — and they want so badly — regulatory certainty and clear rules of the road,” Trump said.
Trump’s remarks reflect growing calls from within the cryptocurrency industry for a consistent and transparent regulatory framework, which advocates argue is essential for innovation, investor protection, and market stability. With Atkins now at the helm of the SEC, stakeholders anticipate a renewed focus on crafting policies that strike a balance between innovation and compliance.
