Hormel Foods announced on January 14 that its CEO, James Snee, will retire at the end of 2025, concluding nearly nine years of leadership at the helm of the iconic food company.
Snee, who has also served as Hormel’s president and chairman of the board, will continue to assist the company as a strategic advisor, a role he will hold until his retirement and for 18 months thereafter. The company emphasized that Snee’s ongoing advisory role will help ensure a smooth leadership transition as Hormel works to identify his successor.
Snee’s tenure with Hormel spans more than three decades. He joined the company in 1989 and led its international division beginning in 2011, a period during which Hormel significantly expanded its global portfolio.
Snee’s decision to step down comes as Hormel faces a challenging business environment, marked by slowing demand for its products and declining turkey prices. The company has already warned that its fiscal year 2025 sales and profits are expected to fall short of previous projections.
